Community Collaboration: RenLUG and Local Businesses

RenLUG collaborates with both professional societies and local businesses to provide high-quality LEGO® experiences within our community.

Professional Societies

RenLUG is proud to partner with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI), Florida Engineering Foundation (FEF) and the Central Florida Engineers Week (Eweek) to support STEM and engineering education through LEGO®.

This collaborative initiative aims to inspire and educate students in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by leveraging the engaging and creative medium of LEGO®.

Through this partnership, RenLUG and its esteemed collaborators will develop and deliver a range of educational programs and activities. These will include hands-on workshops, interactive demonstrations, and educational challenges designed to ignite curiosity and foster a deep understanding of engineering principles among students of all ages.

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) brings its extensive expertise in civil engineering to the table, ensuring that the programs are aligned with industry standards and practices. The Structural Engineering Institute (SEI), a division of ASCE, contributes its specialized knowledge in structural engineering, offering students insights into the design and analysis of structures. Meanwhile, the Florida Engineering Foundation (FEF) provides crucial support in the form of resources and funding, enabling the initiative to reach a wider audience and have a more significant impact.

By combining their strengths, these organizations aim to create a stimulating and supportive environment for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education, utilizing LEGO® as a powerful tool to make learning both fun and effective. This partnership underscores a shared commitment to cultivating the next generation of engineers and innovators, equipping them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the ever-evolving landscape of STEM professions.

A huge thank you to Eweek and Florida Engineering Foundation for selecting us.

Central Florida Business Partners

RenLUG has collaborated with AEO Studios, Orlando’s oldest makeup FX company and production center for many years. AEO Studios, renowned for its makeup and FX services, custom props, haunted attractions, retail store and more, provides RenLUG with many unique opportunities.

Our relationship with AEO Studios predated the 2019 formation of RenLUG; they made the props that our robotics team was known for. Through this long-term partnership, we gain access to a variety of unique display opportunities and spaces where we can showcase our intricate LEGO MOCs (My Own Creations) to a diverse audience.

Additionally, AEO Studios shares their expertise in event and performance production with RenLUG, enhancing our capabilities in hosting and organizing engaging events. This collaboration not only enhances our visibility within the community but also allows us to engage with adult fans of theatrical makeup and special effects, broadening our reach and impact.

RenLUG partners and collaborates with Breaking Point Martial Arts to offer a variety of engaging and educational activities for children in our community, with a significant portion of the programming dedicated to LEGO® and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning. Many of the children served attend nearby Title 1 schools. Through this partnership, we aim to create opportunities for these kids to engage in enriching experiences that foster creativity, teamwork, fitness and personal growth. Our combined efforts ensure that children from underrepresented communities have access to valuable programs that inspire and empower them, providing hands-on activities that promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Our partnership with Moringa Havasu, a cutting-edge hydroponic farm that uses a vertical farming system installed in shipping containers, allows us to display our MOCs during their special farm tours. Although they are located in a different state (Arizona!), this collaboration provides a unique and innovative environment for showcasing our LEGO® creations with a focus on sustainability initiatives. By reaching visitors interested in modern agricultural practices and sustainability, we aim to inspire creativity and demonstrate the versatility of LEGO® building within the context of sustainable farming and technology.

RenLUG partners with the Orlando Science Center to foster education, innovation, and creativity. The Monthly Community Partner Showcase is a key feature of this collaboration. It provides a platform for RenLUG members to present their contributions to STEM and the arts, highlighting how their work creates positive change in the community. This collaboration aims to demonstrate real-world applications of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) using the engaging medium of LEGO® bricks. Through this partnership, RenLUG not only showcases the versatility of LEGO® in scientific and artistic contexts but also emphasizes its role as a tool for problem-solving and community engagement.

Our collaboration with P2S2 offers RenLUG not only use of a meeting space but also a public display area for our MOCs (My Own Creations). This partnership allows us to showcase our intricate LEGO® creations to a wider, adult audience. By displaying our MOCs in this popular local Central Florida venue, we are able to reach enthusiasts who might not typically encounter our work, fostering a greater appreciation for the art and creativity involved in LEGO® building. Additionally, the meeting space provided by P2S2 facilitates regular gatherings and workshops, enhancing our ability to connect with and grow our community of adult LEGO® fans.
