RenLUG – Central Florida’s LEGO® User Group

An inclusive adult LEGO® community for builders, creators, and collaborators, inspiring builders since 2019.

RenLUG brings Adult Fans of LEGO® (AFOLs) together to build, learn, and share through collaborative creations, public exhibitions, and community partnerships across Central Florida.

Resources For Parents & Families

RenLUG is primarily an adult LEGO® fan community, but we love encouraging younger builders to start or stick with the hobby. Children are welcome at RenLUG public events when accompanied by a parent or guardian — and there are plenty of great resources in our area to keep young LEGO® fans building, learning, and growing.

RenLUG Public Events for Families

RenLUG hosts public LEGO® and STEM events for builders of all ages at libraries, science centers, community festivals, and partner venues across Central Florida. Many of our events are specifically designed to be family-friendly and welcoming to younger builders.

Teens volunteering at RenLUG events may be eligible to earn Bright Futures–eligible volunteer hours for approved activities. Please indicate when signing up so we can ensure the right role assignment.

Local Libraries

Libraries are one of the best and most accessible resources for young LEGO® fans — many branches host LEGO® clubs, build nights, and STEM programs. If your local branch doesn’t have one yet, ask them to start one. Check each system’s event calendar regularly as programming changes seasonally.

Core Counties:

Seminole County Public Libraries

Orange County Library System

Lake County Library System

Extended Outreach Counties:

Brevard County Libraries

Osceola Library System

Sumter County Public Library

Volusia County Public Library

In addition to county library systems, many cities operate their own independent libraries — check with your local city hall or school district for additional options in your area.

Local Schools & FIRST LEGO League

Check with your child’s school to see if they have a LEGO® Club or FIRST team your child could join. If they don’t — encourage them to start one. Many schools are eager to launch these programs when a motivated family steps up to help.

FIRST LEGO League FIRST LEGO League is one of the best youth STEM programs available — hands-on, team-based, and genuinely fun. Several RenLUG members got their start in FIRST LEGO League as kids, and many are actively mentoring FIRST teams today, bringing their experience full circle to help inspire the next generation of builders, engineers, and innovators.

FIRST LEGO League operates at three age levels:

  • FLL Discover — PreK–Grade 1, ages 4–6
  • FLL Explore — Grades 2–4, ages 6–10
  • FLL Challenge — Grades 4–8, ages 9–14

FIRST also offers FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST Robotics Competition for older students ready to take their skills further. You can even start your own team.

Special Destination — LEGOLAND® Florida

LEGOLAND® Florida One Legoland Blvd — Winter Haven, FL 33884 (Polk County — just outside our service area, but absolutely worth the trip for young LEGO® fans)

LEGOLAND Florida is a must-visit destination for families with LEGO®-loving kids. While it’s outside the area directly served by RenLUG, it’s an easy day trip from anywhere in Central Florida and features rides, builds, shows, and the spectacular LEGO® Factory Experience store.

Local LEGO® Stores

Looking for somewhere to shop for sets, parts, minifigures, or bulk bricks? We maintain a full list of local LEGO® stores organized by county across our seven-county service area.

Looking for kids programming? Several Bricks & Minifigs locations offer children’s events and activities — including Bricks & Minifigs Mount Dora, which offers STEM classes for young builders. Check with your nearest location for current programming schedules.

A Note for Parents at RenLUG Events

RenLUG is primarily an adult community. When children attend RenLUG public events, parents and guardians are responsible for supervising minors at all times. Not all activities at member events are designed for younger participants — our public exhibitions and family-friendly events are the best fit for younger builders. Check the event listing before attending to confirm it is a public family-friendly event.
