RenLUG – Central Florida LEGO® User Group
Central Florida’s LEGO® club for Adult Fans of LEGO® (AFOLs).
An inclusive adult LEGO® community for serious builders, creators, and collaborators —inspiring builders since 2019.
RenLUG brings Adult Fans of LEGO® (AFOLs) together to build, learn, and share — from personal MOCs to large-scale collaborative creations, public exhibitions, hands-on STEM programs for kids and families, and community partnerships across Central Florida.
Wherever we can, RenLUG puts bricks in people’s hands — not just on display. Our Play Brick Build Zone lets visitors free build or tackle creative challenges, while Royal Rally Racing has kids— and more than a few adults — designing and racing their own LEGO® gravity cars.
RenLUG serves the greater Orlando metro region — core membership in Seminole, Orange & Lake Counties, with programs and events spanning nine counties and 9,500+ square miles across Central Florida, plus a growing membership presence beyond that footprint. See our full service area →
Celebrating creativity, discovery, and collaboration across time and imagination
RenLUG shirts come in a variety of styles, fabrics, and colors, so members can choose what feels most comfortable and appropriate for them. This reflects our commitment to making sure everyone in the club feels welcome and included, regardless of body type, budget, sensory sensitivities, or personal preference.
Free standing banners, branded stanchions, flags, table runners, all coordinate to make the RenLUG brand immediately recognizable at our events.
RenLUG — Renaissance LEGO® User Group
Renaissance: Remarkable technological innovation and artistic achievement
LUG: LEGO® User Group
RenLUG takes its identity seriously — and has fun with it. From a shield borrowed from a decades-old LEGO® set to the heraldic meaning behind our colors, every piece of our branding has a story. Here’s where it all comes from, how it has evolved, and why we’re proud of what it’s become.
Friends Worth Crossing Centuries For
RenLUG’s identity is rooted in friendship, creativity, and a little bit of Renaissance flair.
Our shield, colors, banners, and other visual elements have evolved with the organization, but the purpose behind them has remained the same: creating a recognizable identity for a community of LEGO® fans who build, connect, and share their creativity with others.
From a shield inspired by LEGO® history to member shirts, event equipment, banners, and custom LEGO® creations, RenLUG branding is designed to be seen — and to be part of the community.
Why RenLUG?
The name RenLUG combines two ideas that are central to our identity.
Renaissance represents an era associated with remarkable technological innovation, artistic achievement, discovery, and renewed curiosity about the world.
LUG stands for LEGO® User Group — a community of people who come together around their shared passion for building with LEGO® bricks.
Together, RenLUG reflects a community that values creativity, discovery, engineering, art, collaboration, and the willingness to explore what can be built next.
Our Renaissance inspiration is part of our identity, but it doesn’t limit what we build. RenLUG members create across all genres and skill levels — from castles and cities to trains, space, vehicles, art, engineering, automation, and everything in between.
The Heart of RenLUG
Friendship
Our tagline captures the heart of RenLUG better than any formal description could.
Friends Worth Crossing Centuries For
It’s a playful nod to our Renaissance identity, but it also reflects something very real about the community.
LEGO® brings people together across generations, backgrounds, interests, and experience levels. A shared interest in building can turn a room full of strangers into collaborators, teammates, and friends.
The shield may give us a recognizable identity, but the people behind it are what make RenLUG a community.

Why a Shield?
When RenLUG’s six founders were looking for a way to represent themselves as a group, they searched through old LEGO® Castle sets for one with six minifigures.
They found Set 677/6077, Knights’ Procession — a 1981 LEGOLAND Castle System set featuring six Castle Knights and a small cart of bricks. The set is older than the group’s oldest founder.
Each minifigure knight in the set wears the same shield emblem — split red and white down the middle, with a blue border. That shield became the seed of RenLUG’s visual identity, carried forward and reinterpreted into the shield you see today.
What began as a practical search for a symbol representing six founders became something much more lasting: a visual connection between RenLUG’s LEGO® roots, its Renaissance-inspired identity, and the community it represents today.
The RenLUG shield logo has changed over time, but its connection to that original LEGO® set remains part of the RenLUG story.
The Evolution of the RenLUG Shield
RenLUG’s shield has stayed consistent since the group’s founding, with added levels of adornment along the way.
In heraldic terms, it’s blazoned as per pale Gules and Argent within a bordure Azure — a shield split vertically into red and white halves, bordered in blue.
The core design has remained recognizable through each version. The changes have added detail and character without replacing the shield that has represented RenLUG from the beginning.
All three versions have appeared on member shirts over the years, and all three remain in active use side by side today.
Shield 1 — Original (2019-2021) A plain per-pale red-and-white shield with a blue border — the simplest expression of the emblem drawn directly from the minifigs of Set 6077.
Shield 2 — Brick Outline(2022–2024) The RenLUG name was added, set inside a thin black brick outline.
Shield 3 — Current(2025–present) A bolder brick outline around the RenLUG name — the version now used across RenLUG’s signage, banners, and displays.

Colors of the Banner
Many have commented on our updated branding for 2025 and beyond. Our colors come from LEGO®‘s 1964–1972 logo, but they also echo the Renaissance language of heraldry. Together, they form our banner: one of builders, dreamers, and friends worth crossing centuries for.
RenLUG’s colors have two roots: LEGO® history and Renaissance heraldry.
Our red, yellow, blue, white, and black palette echoes the colors used in LEGO’s early visual identity while drawing on the traditional language of heraldry. Together, they form a banner that represents the creativity, friendship, and community at the heart of RenLUG.
Each color carries a traditional heraldic meaning, while also expressing something about the RenLUG experience.
.
🟨Yellow (Or / Gold)· CREATE — Generosity, wisdom, constancy, and illumination. In heraldry, yellow (gold) symbolizes the sun, illumination, and the pursuit of what is good. For RenLUG, it represents creativity, imagination, curiosity, and discovery — the spark that inspires us to imagine what can be built.
🟥Red (Gules)· BUILD — Courage, strength, magnanimity, and leadership. Traditionally associated with knights and courage, red evokes boldness and determination. For RenLUG, it represents the courage to innovate, experiment, solve problems, and turn an idea into something real — whether that’s a small MOC or a large collaborative creation.
🟦Blue (Azure) · CONNECT — Loyalty, truth, steadfastness, and wisdom. A noble, knightly color, blue was traditionally used to express allegiance and loyalty. For RenLUG, it represents friendship, fellowship, collaboration, and the connections that bring LEGO® fans together. We believe in collaboration, not competition, working alongside other LUGs, businesses, organizations, and community partners to create opportunities that benefit the wider LEGO community. It reflects our commitment to one another as a LUG family — and the friendships that make RenLUG Friends Worth Crossing Centuries For.
⬜White (Argent / Silver) · BELONG — Peace, sincerity, purity, and truth. White was traditionally associated with an untarnished shield. For RenLUG, it stands for openness, inclusion, and belonging — a place where adult LEGO® fans of all genres and skill levels can participate, contribute, and create together.
⬛Black (Sable)· SHARE — Constancy, discipline, knowledge, and resilience. Far from being negative, black in heraldry conveys dignity, strength and constancy. For RenLUG, it represents sharing knowledge, skills, creativity, and experience — an enduring foundation, much like the baseplates that support every build, helping fellow builders and the wider community grow.
These five expressions represent the ways RenLUG members create, participate, connect, and contribute through LEGO®. They are not membership requirements or rules; they are different ways our community comes together around a shared passion.
Our core values guide how we treat one another and work with the wider community:
Friendship · Gracious Professionalism® · Community · Collaboration
We believe in collaboration, not competition — working alongside fellow LEGO® User Groups, businesses, organizations, venues, and community partners to create opportunities and strengthen the wider LEGO® community.
Together, our colors, values, and heraldry give RenLUG a visual identity that reflects both our Renaissance-inspired heritage and who we are today: a creative, welcoming, collaborative community of adult LEGO® fans.
RenLUG in the Real World
Our event branding is designed to feel like part of the RenLUG experience rather than simply placing a logo on a table. Renaissance-inspired details, the RenLUG shield, and LEGO®-inspired visual elements work together to make our spaces immediately recognizable.
RenLUG’s identity doesn’t live only on a website or logo. Members carry it into the real world through the equipment, signage, displays, and creative pieces they design and build for the community.
Our branding travels with our members and our programs — appearing on shirts and name badges to banners, signage, event materials, equipment, and custom LEGO® creations.
These physical expressions of the RenLUG brand help members recognize one another and help the public recognize RenLUG wherever our community gathers.
Member Identity
RenLUG members express their connection to the community in different ways.
At events, you’ll see members wearing RenLUG shirts, castle-themed name tags and the occasional RenLUG hat. These simple elements help members recognize one another and give RenLUG a visible presence when our community gathers in public.
Different shirt designs have also documented the evolution of the RenLUG shield and visual identity over time. The shirts are more than branded apparel — they are a visible way for members to identify themselves as part of the RenLUG community.
At events with a Renaissance or historical theme, some members also enjoy wearing Renaissance-inspired garb as a playful extension of RenLUG’s identity. Renaissance garb is optional and isn’t a requirement of membership or participation. It’s simply another way some members choose to celebrate the Renaissance inspiration behind the RenLUG name — particularly when the setting makes it fun and appropriate.
Whether someone arrives in a RenLUG shirt, a branded hat, Renaissance garb, or simply with a name tag, the goal is the same: building community and creating a welcoming, recognizable RenLUG presence.
Lady Ren & Lord LUG
Every community needs a little personality.
Lady Ren and Lord LUG are RenLUG’s mascots — two Renaissance-inspired characters who help bring our identity to life in custom LEGO® mosaics created by our members.
Lady Ren and Lord LUG are another way RenLUG’s personality shows through. They give RenLUG a playful way to represent the community at events. Their Renaissance-inspired appearance connects naturally to the story behind the RenLUG name while keeping the focus where it belongs: on creativity, friendship, and having fun with LEGO®.
Double the creativity! RenLUG-themed mosaics bring Lady Ren and the RenLUG logo to life, one brick at a time.
Whether they’re appearing on a sign or simply making an appearance in a LEGO® creation, Lady Ren and Lord LUG are another way RenLUG’s personality shows through.
Event Branding
At public events, RenLUG’s visual identity appears throughout our spaces — from banners, flags, stanchions, and table runners to larger display and photo areas. These elements help create a recognizable RenLUG presence wherever our members gather.
A 16-Foot Photo Backdrop
One of our largest examples of member-created branding is a 16-foot-wide photo backdrop based on a MOC LEGO® creation built by a RenLUG member.
The original build was photographed specifically for use as a large-format backdrop. Because the image needed to work at that scale and in a very wide format, the member designed the LEGO® creation with the final proportions and photographic composition in mind.
The result turns a member’s LEGO® creation into part of the physical RenLUG event environment — a backdrop where visitors can stop, take photographs, and become part of the display.
The photo area also includes member-made cardboard replicas of LEGO® weapons and shields, giving visitors playful props to use in their photographs.
It is a good example of the way RenLUG combines LEGO® building, graphic design, fabrication, and community interaction: a member-created LEGO® build becomes a large-scale visual identity piece, while other members’ handmade props turn it into an experience for the public.

Branding Built by Members
From banners and flags to custom event infrastructure and photographic displays, many of RenLUG’s physical branding elements are created with the same spirit as our LEGO® builds: members see a need, develop an idea by collaborating with other LUG members, and make something that serves the community.
Our branding is therefore not simply something RenLUG purchases and displays. It is something our members help create.
Royal Rally Racing
RenLUG branding also travels with our programs.
The RenLUG Royal Rally Racing transport trunk was designed and built by RenLUG members to transport the equipment supporting our Royal Rally Racing program.
It is a practical piece of event infrastructure, but it is also a member-created expression of the RenLUG identity. From its design and construction to its RenLUG branding, the trunk demonstrates how our members turn ideas into something tangible and useful.
When Royal Rally travels to an event, the RenLUG identity travels with it.
The trunk is one example of how RenLUG branding extends beyond apparel and signage — becoming part of the equipment, creativity, and work that members contribute to the organization’s programs.
But the RenLUG Royal Rally Racing experience doesn’t stop with the equipment.

Young participants receive their own RenLUGRoyal Rally Racing driver’s license — a custom RenLUG keepsake designed to make their participation feel like a real racing experience. These small branded pieces help turn an activity into a memory and give participants something tangible to take home.
From the member-built transport trunk to the driver’s licenses handed to young racers, Royal Rally Racing shows how RenLUG branding can become part of an interactive community experience.
Branded LEGO® Creations
Of course, a LEGO® community should be able to build its own identity.
RenLUG members have incorporated the organization’s shield and visual identity into LEGO® creations, displays, and other custom-built elements.
These creations demonstrate something central to RenLUG: our identity doesn’t have to remain flat or printed. It can become part of the creative work itself.

A Brand Built by the Community
The RenLUG identity is more than a logo.
It is a shield inspired by LEGO® history.
It is a banner at a public exhibition.
It is a member wearing a RenLUG shirt at a convention.
It is a branded hat or name tag that helps members recognize one another.
It is a Renaissance-inspired outfit worn for the fun of an appropriate event.
It is a RenLUG Royal Rally Racing transport trunk carrying the equipment for one of our signature programs.
It is a custom LEGO® creation built around our own shield.
And it is the shared identity that connects all of these things back to the people who make RenLUG what it is.
Our branding has evolved alongside the organization, but its purpose remains simple:
To give a growing community of LEGO® fans a recognizable identity — wherever we build, connect, and share our creativity.
